We know that these are financially tough times for many. For those who can give, we are very grateful. Your donations are a crucial part of enabling the work of St Mary’s Church: to make the light, life, and love of God known in our world.

Please remember to gift aid your donation if you are a UK taxpayer, as that will allow us to claim an extra 25p on every £1 that you give.

Bereavement Cafe opening 21 February

Every 3rd Monday of the Month 2.30pm-4.00pm

Our Bereavement Café is hosted by volunteers and offer an informal place in order to make connections and find an understanding ear.

Bereavement is not a medical condition or a health issue, but left unsupported can become one. Bereavement can bring massive life changes and it helps us to talk over issues with those who have experienced something of that first-hand.

Meeting with others gives perspective and helps us take steps as we adapt to our new situation, face challenges and find greater peace. It also serves to combat loneliness and isolation: being on our own day after day is not helpful.

Our café is for adults of any age. As well as listening we aim to provide helpful materials and signpost to professional counselling and support services. We also point to local social and activity groups that may help well-being in a more general way.

Our volunteers are not trained counsellors or medical practitioners but people with a listening ear and time for others. Supported by the local church the café is for those of any faith or none; it’s our chance to serve those in need in Liss and nearby villages.
